Just to remind you the event is taking place on Sat the 18th Sept at Dorney Lake in Windsor. The distances are 400m swim/15km bike/5km run.

All team members complete all disciplines however the first team member will set off on the swim, come out of the water, tag the next member who then completes the swim and so on. You then move on to the bike and then the run. The event is electric and one not to be missed.

Something big is going on this November! And it’s not just bro’s growing Mo’s and Mo Sista’s supporting them! It’s what the running world will come to know as Mo Running! The month formerly known as November will become the month of Mo Running. We need you, your friends, your family and your work colleagues to join in this global phenomenon.

2009 saw the first inaugural Mo Run take place in Greenwich Park, London with 1000 registered Mo Bro’s and Mo Sista’s either growing their Mo’s or dressing up in some amazing outfits in support of Movember (an annual, month-long celebration of the moustache, highlighting men’s health issues, specifically prostate cancer and depression in men)

Mo Running fever has spread like facial hair, boldly growing at an unexpected pace!! Now in 2010 we will see Mo Bro’s and Mo Sista’s running in locations from London, Milton Keynes, Dublin and all the way down under in Australia and New Zealand…

So stay posted, join our community and become a Mo Runner this November!

It was an absolute pleasure working with such an amazing charity and supporting them in making this event a huge success in 2010 and one which will become even bigger in 2011.

FATE, a local charity that sponsors the education of under-privileged children in developing countries, is celebrating this week as Dmitry Drozdov won the TRI Nations v UK 10K Run at Dorney on Sunday with a fantastic time of just 37 minutes and 27 seconds, with Emma Flower coming second in the senior ladies’ category in just 44 minutes 26 seconds. Dmitry and Emma were two of sixteen competitors running for FATE.

Also worth a special mention are Melissa Pitt and Anthony Hall who are getting married this weekend and who travelled to Dorney from Swansea especially to run for FATE dressed in a veil and top hat!  – we wish them all the very best for their special day.

The Tri-Nations 10k encourages runners to represent their country, and the FATE team joined in wholeheartedly,  with runners representing Russia, Afghanistan, New Zealand, Holland, Wales, Sweden, the USA and of course the UK. As well as being a multi-cultural group, it was a group of mixed ability with Sarah Nutbrown – a determined FATE trustee – still smiling and bringing up the rear of the race almost an hour after Dmitry had finished, having walked the course in an hour and 36 minutes.

As treatments improve, more and more people are living with cancer in their daily lives. This means they need more than medical help, they also need practical, emotional and financial support.

We are a source of support

We are a source of support, helping with all the things that people affected by cancer want and need. It’s not only patients who live with cancer, so we also help carers, families and communities. We guide people through the system, supporting them every step of the way. We fund nurses and other specialist health care professionals and build cancer care centres. But we give so much more than medical help.

People need practical support at home, so we provide anything from some precious time off for a carer, to a lift to hospital. People need emotional support, so we listen, advise and share information though our CancerLine, website, support groups and trained professionals. People need financial help to cope with the extra costs cancer can bring, so we give benefits advice, and grants for anything from heating bills to travel costs. Together we listen, we learn, we act to help people live with cancer.

We are a force for change, listening to people affected by cancer and working together to improve cancer care. People who live with cancer are experts by experience. Together we use this knowledge to make a positive difference to the lives of people affected by cancer. This could be anything from getting a coffee machine installed in a waiting room, to bringing about changes in the law.

We fight discrimination – from challenging unfair travel costs and insurance policies to improving the national benefits system. Together we challenge the status quo, we push for change, we lead the way.

We believe we can all help. We can raise money – through marathons, coffee mornings, street collections, sponsored events. We can give time – at cancer care centres, events, fundraising groups. We can share experiences – online, in the media, with each other. We are Macmillan.

2010 will see Mo Running launched across a number of UK locations and will include 5k and 10k running. And not only that Mo Running will also hit Australia and New Zealand.

It’s all about growing the Mo (girls, you don’t have to do this – but we still want you to run!) and why not get in those fancy dress outfits! We are pleased to be supporting Movember and the Prostate Cancer Charity. From every entry fee a percentage will go directly to supporting this charity. If you choose to fundraise that would be fantastic but it’s not a requirement. Just your involvement will be hugely appreciated.

Entries are open on our site for a number of our Mo Runs so make sure you sign up soon as places are going to sell out very quickly. We will keep you posted of updates and news. Get ready for Mo Running to take over the world!!!!!

She was the last remaining female competitor on Unbreakable.. an adventure challenge TV show which involved competing against men and training with some of the toughest military organisations around the world including the SAS and the Navy Seals.

She is now a regular competitor on the racing scene and has taken part in the OMM, several half marathons, adventure races and triathlons. It is her passion to encourage others to step outside their comfort zones and to believe that anything is possible.

This April, Rik Vercoe from The Listening Company will compete in the North Pole Marathon – the only certified marathon run entirely ‘on’ water – that of the frozen variety in the Arctic Ocean  in temperatures  as low as -40 degrees.
